Where did all the property data
for this map come from? Was it typed in?
The data that produced this map was imported from an on-line session with RE/Info Link, a
MLS consortium in the San Francisco Bay Area. GeoLocator can import any
plain text MLS capture file, dBase database, or Comma Delimited ASCII formatted file.
You can of course add, edit, reposition, and delete listings once they are placed
on the map. What are the squares
with the numbers in them?
These are property icons. They are square, have a number and a letter inside, and
are of a particular color. The number represents the sequence of the property in the file
that was translated, the letter shows the status (i.e.; A = Active, S = Sold, etc.) and
each status is a different color. Each icon is placed at the estimated location of the
property and on the proper side of the street. (This is great for telling you if this is a
south facing or an east facing property or if the property is on a corner or at a
"T")
Is this the best resolution that
can be displayed or printed?
The map shown was created in Low Resolution GIF format for viewing on the Web (100
dots-per-inch). We are trying to keep the Web download time to a minimum. The GIF
file took about 20 seconds to display and is 50,000 bytes long. When installed on
your PC, GeoLocator will generate maps at the resolution of your printer (300+
dots-per-inch). When exporting maps to your appraisal forms software, you can
control the resolution of the image that is inserted into your Location Map Addendum.
Are these arrows with the dollar
amounts in them placed automatically?
The arrow placement is completely under the control of the user. There are a dozen
different arrow types that can be used and you can put any text into or under the arrow,
i.e.; Club house, or Ball Field, etc. The arrows can also be used to provide
directions from your office to various properties for clients. When creating a CMA
map and entering Subject and Comparable properties, then the arrows will be placed
automatically!
Are the school icons standard on
all the county map data?
No. However, GeoLocator let's you maintain your own schools, churches,
hospitals and other points of interest in a Landmark layer. You have control of the
kind of Landmark that you create and where to put them. This layer can be turned on
and off on the printed map.
I see that the legend at the
bottom of the map is a CMA summary, can this be changed?
Yes! There are several legend formats that are standard in GeoLocator:
one for MLS property listings, one for appraisals, and two for CMA's.
