MapDirector is a toolkit which gives the user or host
application scripted control over the look, feel, and functions of GeoLocator's runtime
mapping and printing engines. The toolkit allows the seamless integration of a client
application with the GeoLocator runtime module acting as map server. For example, a client application can issue commands which will import an address file, and "pop-up" a map window centered around the selected properties, or which will export a map image file of the same view. |
Geographic QueriesSeveral MapDirector commands have been added which enable the map to be used to select a sub-set of records from the current property layer and then save them to another map data file. Records can be selected which lie within either a rectangle or an arbitrary and user defined boundary, called a "Farm". |

Custom Context Sensitive HelpThe help button on each form can be customized by defining the help topic and file to reference when the button is pressed. |

DDE InterfaceMapDirector commands can now be executed via a DDE link. See the Communication topic in the MapDirector Reference Manual. A sample C language DDE Client application is provided on the Toolkit Reference disk in the CLIENT directory. How do I initiate a DDE link to GeoLocator from MS Access 2000? |
|
Command Line OptionsThe -h option starts GeoLocator as a hidden window which can later be un-hidden using MapDirector commands executed over a DDE link or from within a background command file. The -l option now logs Batch Retrieve and Section Retrieval transactions. |
